How to get Bhutan Visa for German citizens/nationals?

The German passport holders / citizens / nationals must obtain e-Bhutan visa prior to travel to Bhutan and visa fee / cost is US 40 per person per trip. Bhutan does not have a diplomatic relation with Germany and so does not have an embassy or consulate there. Please note that the Bhutanese embassy in New Delhi, India does not issue Bhutan tourist visa or travel permits.

Drukair and Bhutan Airlines are the only two Bhutanese airlines operating flights to and from Bhutan. The fares in these airlines are kept at par. You can purchase the airline tickets through your tour operator in Bhutan (Like us). You may also book and buy the tickets online through their respective websites. However, you will not be allowed to board the flight to Bhutan at the port of entry without e-Bhutan visa.

All international travelers to Bhutan have to pay a sustainable development fee (SDF) as given below. This fee is applicable to all tourists except for the Indian nationals.

• 12 years of age and above: US $ 100 per person per night stay in Bhutan.

• There shall be no charge for the children up to the age of 5 years.

• The children between 6 to 11 years accompanied by guardians shall be given 50 % discount.

The tourists have to pay for the package tour / trek on top of the SDF as follows:

• Solo travel: US $ 245 per night stay in Bhutan.
• 2 pax in a group: US $ 180 per person per night stay in Bhutan.
• 3 pax and above: US $ 170 per person per night stay in Bhutan.

• Solo trekker: US $ 350 per night on trek.
• 2 pax in a group: US $ 260 per person per night.
• 3 pax and above: US $ 225 per person per night.

• 3 meals a day and evening tea / coffee.
• English speaking local guide. German speaking guide can be provided at an additional cost of US $ 80 per day.
• Transportation within the country including airport transfers.
• Accommodation in government certified “clean & safe” 3 star hotels. Luxury hotels (4 and 5 star) can be booked for you at an extra premium.
• Bottled water during the entire trip.

• 3 meals a day and evening tea / coffee.
• Hiring of ponies / yaks.
• Haulage charges.
• Services of guide, cook, helpers.
• Cost of trekking permits.
• Tents and equipment.
• Sleeping mats (You have to bring your own sleeping bags).

• Entrance fees for museums / monuments & festival visits.

Please follow 6 simple steps to obtain Bhutan visa for German citizens / nationals.

• Book pre-paid package tour with one of the registered tour operator in Bhutan (like us). You may also book your trip with one of the international travel agency. 
• Finalize the duration of stay (With fly-in and fly-out dates) and places you wish to visit in Bhutan.
• Make full payment for your trip to your tour operator in Bhutan and share a copy of the wire transfer receipt.
• You also have to share a scanned copy of the photo page of your passport to the tour operator in Bhutan. The photo page should be clear and the MRZ no. at the bottom of the page should be clearly visible.
• Your tour operator in Bhutan will submit your Bhutan visa application to the Department of Immigration (DoI), Thimphu Bhutan. It normally takes a week to process the visa and may take longer during festival seasons.
• The Department of Immigration, Thimphu Bhutan will issue e-Bhutan visa which will be e-mailed to you by the tour operator. You may print a copy or save it in your phone and produce it if required at the port of entry.

Bhutan visa fee for German citizens / nationals is US $ 40 per person per trip. It has to be paid along with the tour payment. The visa extension fee is US $ 40 and your tour operator will take care of it if required.
