Chhukha Tshechu Festival (9th - 11th November 2024)

The Chhukha Tshechu festival in Bhutan is held at the courtyard of Chhukha dzong in Chhukha. It is held annually for three days as an offering to Guru Rinpoche. Different kinds of mask dances, traditional folk songs and dances are performed during the festival. On the third day, a Throngdroel of Guru Rinpoche is unfurled which is the highlight of the festival.

Day 1.Arrive Paro – Thimphu sightseeing | Altitude: 2334 m | 56 Km | Drive: 1 hour.

Meet and greet at the Paro International Airport and drive to Thimphu.

  • Tashichho dzong, seat of the national government and the central monastic body.

Day 2.Thimphu sightseeing | Altitude: 2334 m.

Morning sightseeing includes:

  • Tallest statue of sitting Buddha (51.5 meters) at Kuensel Phodrang.
  • Changangkha lhakhang.
  • Takin preserve center.
  • Sangaygang view point.
  • Dupthop lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.

Lunch at Simply Bhutan museum restaurant, where you can enjoy typical Bhutanese dishes, Ara (Local wine), witness folk dances, visit to the folk museum and many more.

Day 4.Punakha – Wangdue Phodrang – Thimphu | 90 Km | Drive: 4 hours.

Morning – Walk across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan (160 meters).

Then drive to Thimphu valley via Wangdue Phodrang.

Lunch at Dochu La cafeteria.

While in Thimphu, witness archery match at Changlimithang stadium.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 5.Thimphu – Chhukha tshechu festival 2024 | 72 Km | Drive 2 hours.

Morning – Drive to Chhukha. A short stop on the way to view the Dobji dzong.

While in Chhukha and witness the Chhukha tshechu festival 2024. Packed lunch will be served.

In the evening, drive back to Thimphu.
