Honeymoon in Bhutan 2023

Your guide will receive you at the airport and drive to the Hotel.

Afternoon, visit to:

• Ta Dzong, the watch tower of Paro built in 1656 which now houses the national museum of Bhutan.
• Rinpung Dzong built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The Dzong serves as the administrative head quarter of Paro valley. One of the famous annual Bhutan festivals is held here in early spring.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for photography.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Morning – Hike to the spectacular Tiger’s nest monastery (Paro Taktsang).

• 2 hour hike till the monastery. The main temple was built around Guru Rinpoche’s meditation cave in the 1684 by Gyaltse Tenzin Rabgay.

Afternoon, visit to:

• The ruins of the Drugyel Dzong built in 1647 by the Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the father and unifier of medieval Bhutan.
• Kyichu Lhakhang built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan King Srongtsen Gampo.

In the evening, drive to Thimphu. On the way, view Tamchog monastery built in 1420 by Thang Tong Gyalpo.

In the morning, visit to:

• National memorial chorten (1974) built in honor of late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
• Dupthop lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.
• National library, stocked with ancient Buddhist manuscripts.
• Painting school where traditional art is still kept alive through instructions in the art of painting Thangkas.

Lunch at Simply Bhutan museum restaurant. You can practice archery, witness traditional Bhutanese dance, visit to the folk heritage museum and many other activities.

• Craft bazaar.
• Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the central monastic body. The famous annual Thimphu festival is held here in early autumn.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Morning – Drive to Punakha valley via Dochu la pass (3140 m). A short stop at the Dochu La pass to view Higher Himalayas. The colorful annual Druk Wangyel festival is held here on the 13th December.

Drive further to Punakha and on the way, visit Chimi Lhakhang.

• This temple was built in the 15th century by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. It is also known as “the Temple of fertility”. It is the main highlight of honeymoon tours in Bhutan.

Afternoon, visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The famous Punakha festival is held here in early spring.

In the evening, walk across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan.

Morning – Hike to the beautiful Khamsum Yulley Monastery built by Her Majesty the Queen Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.

Then visit Wangdue Phodrang Dzong built in 1638 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

In the evening, explore Phobjikha valley, the roosting ground of the rare black necked cranes in winter.

Morning – Hike the Gangtey nature trail which is a short hike with a beautiful view of Phobjikha valley below. The hike is for approximately 3 hours.

• Visit to Gangtey Gompa monastery built in 1613 by Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson and mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa. The present Abbot, Kunzang Pema Namgyal is the ninth re-incarnation.

Afternoon, visit to:

• Black necked cranes information centre and explore the Phobjikha valley.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Morning – Drive to Thimphu.

Afternoon – Hike Sangay gang view point to Kuensel Phodrang loop. You can enjoy the great view of the Thimphu valley below. The hike is for 2 hours.

In the evening, free to explore Thimphu market.
